Kings Crowned Louis Yates P&D League Champs
Kings Tamerton have finally been crowned the champions of the Louis Yates Plymouth & District Darts League after Tradesmans A couldn't secure the 13-0 win they required to snatch the title in their final round of fixtures.
The former champions' charge was curtailed in the second game of their 11-2 win over Mainstone as Marc Gavican, Ian Collins and Cameron O'Brien won their trebles for the away side.
O'Brien (25.67) went on to secure his 1001 singles in 39 darts to match an effort in thirteen completed visits by Richard Wheatley for the second best team in the league.
Wheatley (25.67) checked 95 in a single visit to claim his individual game whilst teammate Jayden Dodd put on the only maximum for a truly great team that end just a solitary point away from a third straight league title.
Kieran Burns was a ten ton hitter for King Billy in a 7-6 win over Cattedown Social Club that saw him draw level at the top of the individuals with Jordan Grimshaw with one game still to play for the former.
The away side had Jamie Sandford firing a maximum as they fought back from 3-0, 4-2 and 7-3 down to make the score line respectable.
Whatever happens in their final match against local rivals Ker St, King Billy will finish a respectable fifth whilst Cattedown Social Club end tenth thanks to this loss, coupled with the two points ninth placed Mainstone won.
