Main Mann Leads Fawn's Charge To Contention

A thirteen ton haul by John Mann was the catalyst to continue reigning champions fightback into the Steve Chapman 501 League title race after an 11-0 success over Duchy.



Mann's tally was ticked over by two maximums whilst Luke Johnson also added a brace of 180s to his ten scores of a ton or more.


Other 180s came from Fred Goldsmith and Andy Bates to make it a sextet of three treble visits whilst there was two 19 darters in the 601 doubles for the Greenbank outfit.



Mann teamed with Lee Agar to claim one whilst Johnson and Bates also heard 'game shot' called after throwing just 19 and Mann's 17 darter in the singles was the best leg of 501 plundered.


Mark Shears found ton plusses in twelve visits to the board in a 10-1 success for early runaway leaders Cherry Tree B over Tradesmans.



Shears tally was marked by the only maximum for his side whilst Phil Hoyle was also prominent with ten scores of a ton or more.


Two ton plus checkouts lit up the finishing phase of play as Andy Waters 108 combination was only bettered by a 144 by Scott Wapshott.




Waters teammate, Lewis Byrne, added his team's only maximum whilst there was four noteworthy legs of 501 in the match.


The best of which came from the arm of Paul Gavican in just 13 darts during a 3-0 win whilst Shears added a 16 darter to his leg in 14 during another 3-0 triumph.



Wapshott was also a 3-0 winner thanks in part to a masterful 15 darter in a win that keeps the early pacesetters ten points clear.


Still in second and going remarkably well are Cherry Tree C who had Lewis Dare fit and firing with eleven tons in a 10-1 triumph at Indian Inn.



Dare added two maximums to his tally whilst Mark Hatherley showed his undoubted class by ending on ten tons, and as the Stoke village team's only winner.


Hatherley (26.37) blew his opponent away with a 16 darter his best in a 3-0 success whilst Dare won a solitary leg in 13 for a 3-0 win of his own.



Lee Hellings also showed his form with a 16 darter of his own in another 3-0 triumph, which added to his 74 checkout that was the game's best.


Quinton Taylor heard scores of a ton or more called eleven times to lead Victory A to a 10-1 derby day win over Victory Fireballs.



Taylor's trio of teammates, Scott Lawrey, Paul Goundry and Tony Tasker were all 180 hitters in the match whilst Chris Beale added a maximum to his 18 darter in a 3-2 loss to Taylor.


Neil Reid performed admirably with eleven tons but still found himself on the wrong end of a 6-5 loss that went down to the final possible leg as Bar Mez were bested by Bluebird.



Jack McMinn once again stole the show for the victorious visitors with a 12 darter in his 3-0 singles win to go alongside a magnificent 155 highest checkout of the season so far.


McMinn was also one of three maximum hitters as Reid's teammates Scott Town and Mike Bulmer also achieved that particular feat.



Mike Pearce fired eleven tons to go with a ten ton haul from Tex Pearce but somehow the pair managed to end on the wrong side of a 6-5 defeat as St Levans were downed by Octagon.


The Pearce brothers added a 20 dart 601 doubles leg to the affair whilst Mike Pearce was a 3-1 winner thanks in part to a 17 darter.



Tex Pearce added a 96 checkout to Matt Pearce's 180 whilst the only noteworthy contribution from the victors was a maximum by Robbie Bisgrove.


Ten tons each by Scott and Andrew Cook led King Billy to an 8-3 triumph over Cherry Tree A that saw the Cook brothers share two of the four maximums.



Their teammate Frankie Stout heard '180' called twice after throwing whilst Andrew Cook's 100 checkout had to settle for second best in the finishing stakes.


Luke Beard fired a 117 three dart combo for the best checkout of the match for the defeated side whilst teammate Danny Perryman added ten tons to his night's work.



Scott Cook and Stout teamed for a 601 leg put away in just 18 darts whilst Cook and brother Andrew repeated that feat over the 501 distance.


That helped Andrew to a 3-0 win whilst Scott picked up a leg in 14 to go alongside his 18 darter in a 3-1 individual triumph.



Ten tons by Paul Hendy lit up Kings Arms 10-1 success over Ivybridge CC as Hendy joined Tom Andrew for the opposition as the only 180 hitters in the game.


Paul Palmer (24.24) saved his best for the singles with an accomplished 17 darter in a 3-0 win joining legs of 17 and 18 darts by Hendy in a 3-1 success.



Cherry Tree D made it three wins from ten starts with a 7-4 success over Victory Hammers that saw the only highlight coming from Kev Lofthouse who nailed a leg in 15 during his narrow 3-2 individual loss.
