Never Too Much Of A Good Dring For St Levans

Leaders King Billy A continued their relentless march to the title with an 8-3 win over St Levans to further extend their embarrassingly large lead of thirty-four points in the Steve Chapman 501 League.

Despite the defeat, it was St Levans Shaun Dring who produced the performance of the night with a massive seventeen ton plusses whilst teammate Tex Pearce hit thirteen of his own.

One of the ton plusses Pearce notched was a 100 checkout, which was the joint highest of the week.

Pearce also shared three 180s with the man he defeated in the singles, Antony Hayman, but it was Hayman who hit the lion's share.

Hayman's teammate Andrew Cook top scored for his side with thirteen tons whilst Andy Bates hit twelve for the victors.

Bates (25.91) also won his singles 3-0 with a brace of 18 darters and John Mann kept up his unbeaten record in the league with 18 wins from 18 starts. The four team battle for runners-up looks no closer to being resolved with just six points now separating the quartet.

Current incumbents, King Billy B, won 7-4 at Torpoint Cons with the help of four maximums as Jason Pinkerton ploughed in two.

The others were scored by Scott Wapshott and Paul Gavican, who shared the achievement of top scoring for the visitors with teammate Mark Shears; with the pair notching twelve tons each.

Wapshott was the next best on eleven whilst Billy Evans also reached double figures for the Devonport side.

Evans (26.37) had the best recorded individual average thanks in part to legs in 18 and 17 whilst there was a 15 darter for Gavican.

It wasn't by any means all one way traffic with Lee Rodmell top scoring overall for the hosts whilst teammate Paul Tackle also scored ten three figure scores of his own.

This result, coupled with a 10-1 for the Octagon at Cherry Tree allowed the Stonehouse side to join King Billy B on 126 points.

The league's 180 leader, Lewis Dare, regained his outright lead with one of four maximums in the contest.

The others were scored by teammate Ralph Lancaster and there was one each for Cherry Tree's Paul Hoare and Marc Webber.

Dare also top scored with twelve ton plusses whilst the veteran Alfie Ford notched eleven of his own and Lee Hellings kept up joint leadership of the individual with 54 points from eighteen starts.

Fourth placed and current favourites for the second spot due to their game in hand, Victory A, took all points on offer against their B team.

Tony Tasker took a leg in 17 and notched a maximum on his way to ten three figure scores, whilst the B team's Tony Conn hit the game's other 180 in his 3-2 singles defeat.

Tasker's teammate Kelvin Rowe also hit ten but was outscored by Paul Goundry and Danny Allen who scored eleven ton plusses each.

Fawn B bunched the quartet up in the table thanks to a 9-2 win at Kings Arms with stand in for the night, Neil White, hitting twelve ton plusses.

White was ably backed up by Fred Goldsmith and Lee Agar who both ploughed in maximums on a good night for the Greenbank team.

In a clash of the bottom two in the standings, it was Fawn A who got their third win of the campaign in a 7-4 win over Indian Inn.

Chris Beale claimed the joint highest checkout of the week with a fine 100 kill whilst there was 180s for Beale's Indian teammate Ian Heggie and Fawn's Mike Nancholas.
