Onlookers Never Bored By Ford Form

Alfie Ford continues to show his class with fifteen three figure scores in Octagon A's 8-3 win when visiting Cherry Tree A in the Monday Premier League.

Ford was well supported in the win by Lee Hellings' thirteen contribution whilst the man Ford defeated 3-2 in the individual phase, Mike Whatley, managed twelve tons overall.

Whatley's impressive total was propped up by a 114 checkout whilst teammate Matt Nicholson added the only maximum of the contest.

Hellings (25.91) rounded off his evening with a beautifully crafted 3-0 singles success that was won with the help of a leg in 18 darts.

Hellings also teamed with Dave Pethick to win a pair of 601 doubles legs in 20 and 21 darts, which gave them the 2-1 triumph.

Andrew Cook lit up King Billy's 8-3 success over Bluebird B with fifteen three figure scores whilst teammate Kevin Lofthouse netted the only maximum.

Lofthouse ran into an inspired Dale Halford (25.05) who added legs in 16 and 18 during a 3-0 win over his opponent; ending the night on ten ton plusses personally.

Jamie Roberts fired the highest finish of 112 in a 3-1 individual success whilst Antony Hayman's 3-0 win was ticked over the line by a leg in 16.

Glenn Halford's thirteen tons headlined a Bluebird derby between C and A that saw the former come out as winners by the narrowest of 6-5 margins.

The cherry on top of Halford's tally was a maximum whilst teammate Glenn Austin also helped himself to a leg in 18 before Halford won the game for the C team in the final rubber of the match with the scores locked at 5-5.

Jack McMinn and sparing partner Alan Masters certainly didn't deserve to be on the wrong end of such a defeat with the pair putting eleven scores of a ton or more onto the scoreboard.

McMinn's 112 checkout was only bettered by a 127 from teammate John Merrifield; McMinn's checkout coming in the same 3-1 win that also saw him check a leg in 17.

Masters (27.32) showed his class in both the scoring and finishing stages of the affair as he won 3-0 with two of the legs coming in 14 and 15 darts.

Adam Fell's eleven tons during a 6-5 win for Indian Inn over Colebrook was ticked over to that total thanks to a 121 checkout.

Danny Bull's ten ton haul include two of the five maximums; the others going to Nick Furneaux, Nathan Langdon and Bull's teammate Lee Wyatt.

Chris Edgcumbe will think himself unlucky to be on the end of Octagon B's 8-3 defeat to Victory B having hit ten tons in the match.

Edgcumbe was the only 180 hitter from his side as Anthony Pearn and Paul Goundry both added an effort of three trebles each for the visitors.

Paul Gavican's modest 80 checkout was the best mustered at the business end of legs, joining three legs of note between the two teams.

Paul Barclay's 17 darter couldn't arrest his slide to a 3-2 defeat whilst Edgcumbe's 3-0 win was accented by a leg in 16 darts.

However, the most consistent marksman in the singles phase was Scott Cook (25.47) who checked a 16 darter on his way to a win by the same score.

Three maximums lit up Cherry Tree B's 6-5 win over Victory C as Marc Webber, Paul Hoare and Mel Sharpe all hearing 180 called after throwing.

Despite ending on the wrong side of the defeat, Hoare didn't stop at a maximum, adding a 114 checkout and a leg in 17 darts during his 3-1 individual triumph.
