Raining Three Figures Scores In Steve Chapman 501 League

Six players reached the magic ten ton mark in a clash of the top two in which King Billy A eventually exerted their dominance over Victory A by 7-4.

Andy Bates and Antony Hayman both notched up a game high sixteen ton plusses for the winners with Scott Lawrey top scoring for the Honicknowle team with fifteen.

Three others reached ten tons with Billy’s John Mann and Alec Turner joining Victory's Tony Tasker in that feat.

Of the six 180s hit on the night, Tasker has the lion's share with a brace and was joined in that column by teammate Quinton Taylor.

Mann and his teammates Luke Johnson and Andy Nation both replied for the Billy Boyz.

Nation also took the highest finish of the week with a fantastic 140 kill whilst Johnson (31.31) was the most impressive singles competitor; winning his game 3-0 in 16,18,14.

Victory A may feel it was a missed opportunity to inflict a first defeat of the season on the runaway leaders after going 2-0 up and six of the next nine being decided by last leg deciders.

However, King Billy showed why they're such dominant champions over this format by reeling off seven from the last nine to stretch their lead to a quite frankly ridiculous twenty-nine after just thirteen played.

Octagon took the opportunity to leapfrog Victory into second after an 8-3 win over Kings Arms in which the Stonehouse side racked up sixty-five three figure scores.

Jayden Dodd was top marksman with fifteen ton plusses; some of which aided him to legs of 16 and 17 darts.

Alfie Ford hit twelve, Lee Hellings and Lewis Dare were the next best with eleven whilst Dave Pethick reached ten on a great night for the team.

Dare (25.91) was the best overall performer in the singles phase with his 16 dart leg being equalled by Hellings.

However, this was beaten by the Oreston side's Dave Algar who went one better and finished a leg in 15.

Teammate Paul Palmer also reached eleven tons and added one of six maximums hit in the match.

Palmer was joined by stablemates Algar and Chrissie Kinnaird in that respect with Pethick and Dare replying with one and two respectively.

The highest finish of the match was shared by Dare and Dodd who both expertly notched 116 finishes with aplomb.

Paul Gavican was the star man with twelve tons for King Billy B who also moved above Victory A to occupy third spot after an 8-3 win away at St Levans.

Gavican's teammates Billy Evans and Matt Chegwin put the only 180s of the contest on the board whilst Tex Pearce was prominent for the defeated side.

Pearce put twelve tons of his own on the scoreboard, some of which helped him to two 16 darters.

One of the tons hit was the highest of the contest, a fine 111 outshot, which beat his brother Mike Pearce's 110 effort by a single point.

Cherry Tree's Paul Hoare put away thirteen tons but still ended up on the wrong side of a 7-4 defeat to Victory B.

Hoare also checked a 124 in his 3-2 individual defeat to Danny Allen, who ended the night with twelve tons of his own.

Three 180s were scored as Indian Inn almost ended their winless start to the season before Fawn B snuck home 6-5.

The Stoke side were as many as 4-1 up in a spell that included a 180 for Ian Heggie before Lee Agar put one on the board for his Greenbank team.

Jodie Hawton then stepped up last on to secure the final point and deciding game, in which she put a maximum on the board of her own, to seal the victory for her team.

There were three maximums in the other game involving a Fawn side with the A team going down 7-4 to Torpoint Cons.

Pete Cudmore-Ray and Dave Clemson both notched for the Fawn with Tom Full replying for the visitors.

That effort was one of eleven tons for Full, who also checked the highest finish of the match with a fine 136 effort beating teammate Paul Tackle's 116 kill.

Full also had the shortest leg of the game with a 15 darter whilst Mike Bulmer showed his class with an 18 darter for the Cornwall side.
