Shears On The Mark For Victory C

Mark Shears was the star man of the Steve Chapman 501 League game week with seventeen three figure scores plundered during a Victory C 8-3 win over Octagon.

Shears wasn't the only member of his team in good form as Paul Gavican produced thirteen tons to his name in the match.

Despite ending on the wrong side of the defeat, Dave Pethick also showed his undoubted class with thirteen three figure scores of his own.

Ralph Lancaster showed there's still plenty of life in the old dog as he claimed a 126 checkout that bettered a 108 from teammate Jayden Dodd to take the highest of the match.

Lancaster's 3-2 win over Jason Pinkerton saw the pair both claim legs in 18 darts whilst Shears 3-1 success was littered with a 16 darter.

Fawn B's 11-0 win over Indian Inn helped them take command of the early title race with Dave Matthews thirteen tons putting a big dent in the score line.

John Mann was in decent nick in the match with twelve tons; one of which coming in the form of one of the five maximums from his team.

Matthews added to that 180 total with one of his own whilst Lee Agar ploughed in the other three on the night, as well as a 101 checkout.

That three dart combination out shot had to settle for fourth place in the highest checkouts of the match as Andy Bates bettered with a 112 finish.

A checkout of 131 from Mann still wasn't enough to claim the big finish honours as Fred Goldsmith threw a 140 single visit kill to give him the highest checkout of the game week.

Goldsmith also claimed a stake in the shortest leg with a crucial 15 darter in a 3-2 win; sharing that honour with Mann (27.33) who netting a leg in five completed visits in his 3-0 win.

Agar's 18 dart leg in a 3-0 was preceded by a 19 dart 601 leg in a 2-0 doubles triumph for Agar and Matthews.

Mike Pearce's thirteen tons provided a catalyst for St Levans to return from their trip to Bar Mez with a 6-5 success.

Pearce's total was accented by his team's only maximum with the other in the match coming from Neil Reid, whose effort was the cherry on top of a ten ton personal haul.

Tex Pearce certainly assisted his brother in the win by reaching eleven tons, hitting the highest checkout of the match with a 96 kill; all to add to his game winning 3-0 triumph that gave the Keyham side the win at 5-5.

Kelvin Rowe plundered twelve ton plusses in a 9-2 triumph for Victory A over Fawn A in which it wasn't just Rowe's scoring prowess that caught the spotlight.

Rowe checked 101 in a single visit in a 2-0 doubles win for him and partner Quinton Taylor (29.32) which was put away over the 601 distance in 20 and 21 darts.

Rowe (26.37) continued his blistering display in the singles with a leg in 16 darts helping secure the best winning average of all twelve on display.

It certainly wasn't a one man mission as Taylor joined Scott Lawrey in hitting the only two 180s of the match; Lawrey adding ten more tons to that to give him an overall tally of eleven.

Mike Bassett was the only member of the Greenbank side to show anything like his very best form as he won his singles and added ten tons to the scoreboard.

Tony Teal showed the form that's made him one of the most formidable players in recent history with the match's only 180 ticking his ton total over to ten in Kings Arms 9-2 triumph over Victory Hammers.

Paul Palmer also heavily contributed to that success with ten tons of his own whilst Simon Kelly's 17 darter in a 3-0 win was the best of any leg thrown in the singles phase of play.

Both of Dave Lee and Danny Perryman both added ten tons to the scoreboard in Cherry Tree's 10-1 win over Ker St.

Geoff Heath showed moments of his brilliance with a 180 and a game high checkout of 118 that bettered an 85 from teammate Matt Kingdon and a 90 from Luke Beard.

Heath (25.47) also netted a 16 darter in a 3-0 singles win but that leg was bettered twice in the match as Lee and Beard added legs of 14 and 15 darts respectively.

King Billy's 11-0 win over Duchy was dominated by the form of their two main talisman as Antony Hayman and Andrew Cook both produced mammoth averages.

Cook (30.06) took legs in 14 and 16 darts in his 3-0 win whilst Hayman (29.47) produced almost exactly the same stats with legs in 15 and 16 darts contributing to his 3-0 win.

Hayman and Cook also joined Kyle Burden in hitting a 180 in the match whilst Hayman's 81 modest but respectable 81 checkout was the highest mustered by any competitor on show.
