Stevenson Mirror Of His PDC Days

Simon Stevenson put up a darting master class in an 8-3 Plymouth City Super League defeat for Fawn A in their visit to Steampacket.

Stevenson (34.16) rocketed to an unbeaten fifteen three figure scores in the win and bagged himself a ton plus three dart average of 102.48 in a 3-0 individual success.

Legs of 14, 16 and 14 did for his opponent in a classy display whilst teammate Mark Hempsall checked 110 in a single visit for the highest checkout of the match.

That bettered a 106 from Neal Hotchkiss for the victorious Devonport side whilst George Beckett ploughed in a trio of maximums to take his total to ten overall.

Another fifteen ton haul, this from Glenn Halford, came in Bluebird A's 6-5 win that came down to the very last possible leg of the match.

Halford was one of four 180 hitters in the game; joining teammate James Stoodley as well as Steve Mills and Rick Trinder for the opposition in achieving the feat.

Stoodley also helped himself to a fine finish with a 90 checkout claiming the highest effort of the matchup as a whole in a 3-1 success that left the match nicely poised.

Halford had Dave Lee in his way of success who had teamed with Mills (28.60) to claim a 1001 leg in just 35 darts during a doubles win.

The topsy turvy battle between Halford and Lee, who himself finished on eleven tons, went the way of the former in a final leg shootout to claim the spoils of war for his side.

Dave Johns fourteen ton return from his performance in Kings Arms B's 7-4 win over Bluebird B wasn't enough to stop the enigmatic veteran from being defeated in the singles phase of play.

Jamie Roberts 18 dart leg proved crucial in a win over Johns who had earlier checked 108 for the highest finish of the match.

Lee Hellings and John Mann blew up Octagon's 11-0 win at Hyde Park with thirteen ton plusses a piece that was the main catalyst behind the success.

The duo were also supported by Alfie Ford who heard three figure scores called after throwing no fewer than ten times.

Hellings also joined both Neil White and Fred Goldsmith in hitting a 180 in the match whilst the cherry on top of Hellings total came with a 148 checkout that was the largest of both the match and game week.

Three twenty-six plus averages rained down on the Peverell team in the match; the first coming from Dave Matthews and John Mann (27.05) who checked 1001 in just 37 darts.

That bettered Hellings and Ford's (26.34) 38 dart leg over the same distance before Mann (27.33) added a 13 darter in his 3-0 singles win.

Despite a fine performance, Hellings did end up being the only player from his team to lose a leg in a 3-1 success that contained a leg in 18.

A blistering spell from Warren Gordon that included thirteen tons helped Saltram claim a 6-5 win over Ker St; another game to come down to a final leg decider.

Gordon joined Ian Heggie in achieving a 180 in the team phase of play before Roger Bailey took out a 106 during a 3-2 defeat to Gordon.

The visitors from Devonport clawed back a 4-2 deficit to take a 5-4 lead before slipping away in the final two rubbers; the last of which was won 3-2 by Simon Kelly.

Scott Cook showed his undoubted class in a 10-1 success for Victory A in a visit to Victoria that saw Cook hit twelve ton plusses.

Five of those came in a 1001 leg that was put away in just 25 darts as Cook teamed with Tom James (40.04) who together were taking off over 120 points on average during every visit.

The leg was ever more remarkable when you consider the world's lowest number of darts over the 1001 distance is just six darts less; the 19 dart record held by former Plymouth marksman, Cliff Inglis.

Cook added a checkout of 124 and a 180 in his 3-0 individual success with teammate Mark Shears also throwing a three treble visit in the match during another 3-0 win.

Shears success came with the help of legs in 17 and 15 darts with another 17 darter coming in a 3-0 triumph for Danny Allen who finished the night on ten tons.

Paddy Archibald top scored for King Billy with eleven ton plusses as they claimed a 7-4 home win against Clifton.

Antony Hayman supported Archibald well with a ten ton haul that was rounded off by one of the four 180 during the match.

Lee Doncaster and Paul Palmer fired in maximums for the Devonport victors with Dan Jewell providing his visiting team's only effort of it's kind in a 3-2 singles success.

Jewell also checked 145 in a single visit to the board to best his own 70 finish earlier in the match whilst Jewell was one of two men to make it to the magic double figures in tons; joining Wayne Town in that feat.

Four ton plus out shots lit up Raffles 10-1 triumph over St Levans; the best of which coming in the form of a 129 from Harry Bull.

Alec Turner's 120 finish had to settle for second best whilst James Ewing's 114 kill was beaten by one by Bull who checked 115 to go alongside his highest effort in a 3-0 singles win.

Bull (30.06) was at his breath-taking best in that win, which was won in legs of 14, 18 and 18 darts; Alec Turner adding a third 18 dart leg for his team in his 3-1 win.

Turner put a 16 darter alongside that triumph and joined Eddie Bull in hitting a maximum for his team to take the team and match total to two.

A Victory derby match between the B and C teams ended in a 8-3 win for the former; Scott Hutchinson's performance providing most of the entertainment.

Hutchinson checked a 102 finish and took legs in 17 and 18 darts in a 3-1 win whilst the 180s in the match were shared as Jason Goldsmith claimed a solitary effort for the defeated C team.

Kirsty Whiting-O'Brien drew her wife Kay Whiting-O'Brien in the singles and showed no marital mercy with a 180 that helped her to a 3-2 win over her spouse.

The trio of Tony Pike, Rob Wills and Jack Heath all showed moments of their very best form in Duchy A's 7-4 defeat at home to Colebrook.

Pike was one of two 180 hitters in the match with Colebrook's Dave Hollow hitting the other whilst Heath's 97 checkout bettered an 88 from Andy Bond.

Rob Wills was a 3-2 singles winner with a 16 darter in that five leg thriller proving to be crucial to the direction of the point for his team.

Fawn B claimed their biggest win of the season so far with a 9-2 triumph over Duchy B; the most memorable moment of the match coming from an Alan Brady 92 checkout.
