Stevenson's Golden Gate To Victory

The B section continues to outshine their A division counterparts in the Plymouth City Super League with Simon Stevenson adding a remarkable eighteen three figure scores in Cornwall Gates' 10-1 win.

Stevenson helped himself to two maximums and a finish of 115 in the success away at Victoria whilst Lewis Dare also contributed heavily to the triumph with sixteen three figure scores.

Aaron Wright put up the most resistance for the defeated team with fifteen tons and Wright's teammates Seth Thompson and Mick Bingham showed their finishing prowess with checkouts of 111 and 93 respectively.

Stevenson's old sparring partner Col Maddocks showed his undoubted class with a fine maximum in his 3-2 win over Wright to put the cherry on top of a marvellous performance for the newly formed Division B leaders.

Lee Hunter's contribution of thirteen three figure scores led Kings Tamerton to a 7-4 win at home against Clifton with Hunter supported well by teammate Mike Whatley who put twelve tons onto the scoreboard.

Paul Freeman also reached ten tons for the home side, one of those being a 180 fired for the victors in riposte to a maximum from former Champion of Champions, Neil Holder.

As the score line suggests, it certainly wasn't all one way traffic as Wayne Town top scored for the visitors with twelve tons and Dan Jewell chipped in with ten of his own.

The high checkout went to Gareth Harper with 111 whilst Wayne Davis' 18 darter in his 3-1 success was bettered by a leg in 17 from Kev Seal in a 3-2 defeat, and a 13 dart leg that came in Lee Soper's 3-0 win.

Tex Pearce's eleven tons couldn't arrest St Levans' slide to a 7-4 defeat the hands of Cherry Tree B who sit second in the standings after two weeks of play.

Pearce's exploits were not curtailed to the scoring phase as he nailed legs of 15 and 18 darts during his 3-1 individual triumph.

Ben Welsh fired a 111 checkout for Hyde Park but saw his away side slump to a 6-5 defeat in the final singles rubber won by Fawn B's Mark Sargeant 3-0.

Ralph Lancaster was the standout performer for Ker St in a 9-2 win over Duchy A that saw Lancaster check 90 in a single visit and provide one of the two maximums in the match; teammate Paul Tackle putting the other up.

Jodie Hawton's 66 combination outshot came in a 9-2 defeat for her Duchy B side in their visit to the Kings Arms A.

In the A league, Simon Kelly top scored for the King Arms B with thirteen tons, and saw his last leg deciding 3-2 individual win provide his team with a 6-5 win in their visit to Colebrook.

The man Kelly defeated, Andy Bond, heard scores of a ton or more called after throwing on no fewer than ten occasions whilst Bond's teammates James Ewing and Nathan Langdon both threw maximums.

The other 180 provided on the night came from the arm of Roger Backway who also added a 112 three dart combination out shot in his 3-1 individual win.

Dave Johns was also prominent in the win for the Oreston based side when chalking up ten three figure scores overall.

Early leaders Legends Lounge continued their bright start to the season with a 10-1 win over Victory in which they went 1-0 down before winning the next twenty-five consecutive legs.

Scott Wapshott was at the heart of that performance as he bagged one of the four maximums on his way to twelve ton plusses.

Two of Wapshott's teammates joined Phil Hoskin for the defeated home team in achieving a 180 as Mark Shears and Paul Gavican both struck.

The clinical nature of their finishing is what gave the St Budeaux outfit the edge as Dan Brazier's leg in 14 was the best of the night overall.

Wapshott's two 16 darters in his 3-0 win was matched by teammate Anthony Pearn who checked a solitary leg in 16.

Gavican checked one leg in 17 whilst Scott Cook's 17 darter was joined by another in 18 and Shears joined the 18 darter club with a win over the same 501 distance of his own.

Reigning champions Octagon took all points on offer in an 11-0 win over Saltram that was dominated by the scoring form of Dave Matthews who nailed eleven tons.

Matthews had an abundance in his supporting cast as the trio of Fred Goldsmith, John Mann and Lee Hellings all etched double figures in tons onto the score sheet.

Mann's total was accented by two maximums whilst Goldsmith's 118 checkout was the best of all twenty-seven checkouts of the match.

Over the 601 distance, Mann and Matthews put together a 22 dart leg whilst Hellings and partner Alfie Ford (27.32) repeated that feat twice in their 2-0 win.

Neil White and Goldsmith completed a team game whitewash with the help of a fine 18 darter before more punishment rained down in the singles.

White started proceedings in the individuals with a leg in 16 during his 3-0 win before Matthews checked a leg in 15 in his 3-1 triumph, which contained the only

Mann (30.06) saved the best until last with legs in 14 and 17 darts helping him the Stonehouse outfit to another win without loss.

Antony Hayman and Paul Goundry's ten ton contributions each led King Billy to an 8-3 win over Cherry Tree A; the pair producing all of the 180s and the highest checkout of the match.

The former added a brace of maximums to his evening's work whilst the latter checked 115 at the first time of asking.

Hayman (25.05) added a leg in 15 darts during his 3-0 individual triumph whilst Goundry (29.47) sprinkled his magic dust over the occasion with legs in 15 and 17 darts.

Mark Yeoman's 3-1 win was ticked along by an 18 darters whilst one of the three points claimed by the defeated side came in a 3-0 win for Dave Lee which included the best leg of the night, a 14 darter.

Raffles derby day 7-4 win over Fawn A was lit up by Harry Bull and grandad Eddie Bull's ten three figure score personal tallies.

Teammates Adam Fell and Alec Turner put together a 22 dart leg over the 601 doubles format in a 2-1 triumph, whilst the best leg in the singles was Dave Roberts 18 darter in his 3-0 win for the visitors.

Roberts also added the only maximum of the match and teammate Bill Scannell helped tidied up 116 in just three darts to better a 101 from Roberts.

James Stoodley's brilliance at the business end of legs provided the catalyst for Bluebird A to win the Bluebird derby over their B team by a score line of 10-1.

Stoodley's 116 checkout was only outdone by a 126 from the same arm, which claimed the best checkout of the week across both divisions.
