Super-Mann: Mann Of Steel

A 10-1 win for runaway leaders and undoubted Plymouth City Super League title favourites Octagon in their visit to Bluebird A was dominated by one man; John Mann.

Mann set about the Compton side with a ruthless display of three figure scoring when adding two maximums to an overall haul of sixteen ton plusses.

The Stonehouse side were anything but a one Mann team as Neil White added fourteen tons whilst Dave Matthews checked 101 in a single visit to the board in his 3-2 success.

During that game, Matthews also added one of six 18 darters struck by the leaders as well as topping up his individual ton total to eleven overall.

White (24.78) added one of those in a 3-1 victory over Glenn Halford who himself checked a leg in 17 darts and also reached ten tons for his night's work.

The next best average of the evening came from Fred Goldsmith (25.05) who added one 18 dart leg in his 3-0 victory whilst Lee Hellings (25.91) checked legs in 18 and 16 darts during his own 3-0 win.

The best was however saved until last as Mann (27.86) produced a pair of 18 darters with a 14 dart leg sandwiched in the middle for a 3-1 success against Glenn Austin.

Despite not producing his very best in the individual defeat, Austin still had time on the night to bag himself a brace of maximums in the team phase; one of which bringing about the Bluebird A's only point.

Fourteen ton plusses from Simon Stevenson helped his Fawn A side get the better of Saltram 6-5 on their travels.

Stevenson added one of three maximums on the night to that brilliant total as teammate Mike Nancholas bagged himself one and Warren Gordon provided the defeated team's sole effort.

Gordon's teammate Dave Algar produced the best finish of the contest in a 3-1 singles triumph with a 100 kill in just the one visit.

With the tightly contested match reaching a crescendo at 5-4 to the Greenbank team with two to play, Stevenson (30.67) showed the form that earned him seven years amongst the professional ranks.

Legs of 15, 18 and 14 darts gave the former PDC Tour Card holder an emphatic 3-0 win that saw his team over the line to an unassailable 6-4 lead before Saltram made the score line respectable in the final leg.

Wayne Town produced something like his best form with thirteen three figure scores for Clifton in their 8-3 triumph over Victoria.

Town's teammate and former Champion of Champion, Neil Holder, produced a moment of magic in his 3-0 singles win with a 91 checkout.

Eleven tons each from Victory B duet of Paul Hoare and Lewis Dare helped the Honicknowle team to a 10-1 success over Hyde Park.

Dare's total was accented by one of two maximums as his Victory and Devon teammate Mark Turner added another for the team.

Dare also shared the high checkout honours with another teammate as 126 was killed twice by both Dare and Lee Hunter; those efforts besting a Jacob Bentham 91 kill for the defeated team.

During the individual phase, Dare (28.90) produced legs of 16 and 17 darts to dominate his way to a 3-0 success.

Antony Hayman started King Billy's 7-4 win over Bluebird B like a man possessed by darting Gods as he scored 557 points in just four visits during the second trebles.

This contributed heavily to a 36 dart 1001 leg for Hayman and his teammates Mark Yeoman and Lee Doncaster (27.81) in which Hayman personally averaged 46.42 per dart.

Hayman continued with that sort of form in the doubles when pairing with Paul Goundry (25.67) for a 1001 game in 39 darts.

The wheels fell off quite drastically in the individual phase as Hayman was roundly beaten by Jamie Roberts 3-0 despite Hayman making it to ten tons for the evening.

Roberts himself had added one of six maximums in the match and a 120 checkout in the first trebles before his statement whitewash win.

Roberts was joined in hitting a maximum by teammates Dale Halford and Vince Scallan; with the former hitting his in a 3-2 success that contained a crucial 18 darter, as well as a 100 checkout.

That win was over Paul Palmer who added a brace of 180s whilst Lee Doncaster was the other 180 hitter in the match.

Doncaster (26.37) was also prominent at the business end of legs as he secured his 3-0 individual win with a leg in 16 darts.

A Darren Smith ten ton salvo wasn't enough to stop Colebrook from falling to a narrow 6-5 defeat to Cherry Tree.

Smith provided his team with their only maximum during the match whilst Dave Lee replied with an effort of his own for the victors.

Tex Pearce was in good form for St Levans as he added ten tons for the Keyham side in a 10-1 success during their visit to Victory C.

One of those came in the form of a 100 checkout, which was only bettered by teammate Hayley Brant who nailed a 107 in a single visit during a doubles win.

Brant also joined Anna Johnson in hitting a maximum during the match with Jason Goldsmith's 180 the only noteworthy contribution for the defeated team.

George Beckett's 142 checkout during Steampacket's 7-4 win over Kings Arms B wasn't beaten across all fixtures played in the league.

That effort helped Beckett (25.91) to a 3-0 singles win that contained a leg that was finished off in just 15 darts.

Victory A produced three of the four maximums put onto the scoreboard by the Honicknowle based team in their 9-2 win over Duchy Of Cornwall A.

Cameron Pickard, Tom James and Mark Shears all produced 180s whilst Jack Heath was the achiever of the feat for the Stonehouse side.

Shears also won a leg in just 15 darts during his 3-0 singles win whilst Mark Langdon's 84 kill in a doubles game gave Duchy one of their two points gained.

Marie Slide's 64 checkout was bettered by a single point as Colin Sloman finished in one visit from 65 during an 11-0 win for Kings Arms A over Duchy Of Cornwall B.

Sloman also helped himself to an 18 darter during his 3-0 win that was one of four for the Oreston side during a match they dominated from start to finish.

Paul Tackle produced two of Ker St's best moments in their 9-2 win over Fawn B as he added his team's only maximum and a checkout of 92.

Tackle's teammate Roger Bailey checked a leg in 18 darts during the match whilst Mark Sargeant's 180 was the only effort of note during the home defeat for the Greenbank side.
