Taylor Ends Lavers Fine Unbeaten Run
St Johnston B's Sean Taylor chalked up a maximum but ended on the losing side against Mainstone by an 8-5 margin in the Plymouth and District Friday Darts League.
Taylor also inflicted a first defeat of the season on joint individual leader Vernon Lavers who is now in a pack of six or seven who could end the season with that title.
St Johnston A took advantage of leaders Tradesmans A's bye week to move within three points of the top with a game in hand after an 11-2 at Grenville.
This was largely down to the form of Kieran Burns who chalked up ten tons, including a maximum, for the favourite for the title.
Grenville are now rooted to the bottom thanks to Ker St's third win of the season; a 7-6 triumph at Pennycross.
Steve Lamerton produced the highest checkout of the week with a fine 126 for the defeated home side.
Octagon's Simon Washington (23.83) took the least number of darts prize with a 42 dart 1001 leg in his singles.
Washington had a 76 finish and a maximum in the leg but it was Steampacket who won the contest 7-6 on the last leg thanks to a Gareth Hockings salvo.
Matt Abbott produced no fewer than fourteen ton plusses as his King Billy team won 11-2 at Tradesmans B to firm up their position in third.
Abbott's teammate Ryan Ring hit the highest finish of the contest with a sharp 68 checkout.
