Tight At The Top In P&D League

Tradesmans A continue to cling on to top spot by a single point after their 9-4 win at Octagon in the Plymouth & District League.

It was the away side who started the strongest with a 38, 1001 team game and built a 6-1 lead before sharing the singles games.

During that spell initial dominant spell, it was the Octagon who ploughed in all of the game's maximums with Jodie Hawton and Dave Wyatt both firing for the defeated side in vain.

Another game with two maximums for a team that lost ended 10-3 to Queens Arms over Mainstone with Roy Osgood and Ian Collins producing the 180s.

Second placed St Johnston A are still in a fine position to pounce on any slip from the leaders thanks to a 9-4 win of their own against Pennycross.

Devon player Kieran Burns (28.60) was his usual brilliant best with a leg in 35 and also notched two maximums on the night.

Pennycross' player Ian Targett produced the highest finish of the week with a fine 80 kill in the only singles game won by his side.

Bottom side Grenville had a second win of the campaign snatched away in the last two legs of their 7-6 defeat to Indian Inn.

Mark Hatherley maintained his leadership of the individual standings before teammate Jack Bottrill secured the final leg of the tie to give the Stoke side the spoils.

Ker St move a point further clear of Grenville thanks to their 7-6 win over St Johnston B, in which Dan Cole chalked up a 180 for the Keyham team.
