Womble's 180s... Common Are They

Alec Turner notched no less than three maximums as King Billy A's dominance of the Steve Chapman 501 League continued with a 10-1 win over Victory B that stretched their lead to fifty-eight points.

Those efforts were three of eight 180s in total in the match with Turner's teammates John Mann and Anthony Hayman both striking.

Hayman (28.90) won his individual game 3-0 with the help of legs in 15 and 18 darts whilst Mann was the Devonport team's top scorer with thirteen three figure scores.

Mann also chalked up a leg in 15 in his 3-0 success whilst the other 180s in the match came from Danny Allen, Cleo Trelease and Kieran Harris for the Honicknowle side.

Mike O'Brien reached fifteen three figure scores, including a game high checkout of 110, in Fawn B's 7-4 defeat against Torpoint Cons that also saw the Greenbank marksman hit a 15 darter.

That 15 dart finish beat teammate Lee Agar's effort in 18 darts whilst Fred Goldsmith hit the Fawn team's only maximum.

Andy Waters was the joint top scorer for the victorious team with fourteen ton plusses, including a maximum, and was ably supported by Paul Tackle who hit thirteen of his own.

The pair combined for an 18 dart 601 leg in the doubles whilst their teammate Lee Rodmell also scored fourteen three figure scores of his own and Simon White checked 102 in three darts.

Mike Nancholas reached eleven ton plusses but finished on the wrong end of a 9-2 scoreline as St Levans defeated the Fawn A.

Nancholas' teammate Mark Sargeant hit one of three 180s in the contest whilst the others were provided by the hand of Tex Pearce and Hayley Brant.

Brant showed her undoubted class with a leg in 15 darts that was won with a 111 checkout; the highest finish of the match.

Dave Pethick and Jayden Dodd shared twenty-six three figure scores equally between them in Octagon's 9-2 win over Indian.

Lee Hellings was also prominent for the victors with twelve ton plusses in a dominant team display that also saw Lewis Dare average 24.24 in his 3-0 win.

Dare also took the high checkout honours with a fine 101 kill whilst Pethick joined teammate Alfie Ford in producing an 18 dart leg in a 3-0 singles win.

Ian Heggie was the only singles winner for the Indian thanks in part to an 18 dart leg in a 3-1 win whilst teammate Louis Yates went one better with a 17 darter in his 3-2 defeat.

Paul Gavican and Mark Shears both reached twelve ton plusses each to help the King Billy B retain second spot in the league with an 8-3 win over rivals Victory A.

Scott Wapshott (25.91) added a leg in 18 in his 3-0 win whilst teammate Mark Yeoman and Shears both hit legs in 16 darts.

Yeoman joined Gavican in hitting maximums whilst Scott Lawrey and Darren Collis were the only players to make a noteworthy contribution for the defeated team with 180s of their own.

Warren Gordon's checkout of 118 in Kings Arms 9-2 win from their visit to the Cherry Tree was the highest record across all six fixtures.

Despite ending on the losing side, Marc Webber top scored with thirteen tons whilst Dave Algar and Dave Johns both reached twelve for the victors.

Algar and Johns also joined teammate Reg Matthews in hitting a 180 in the game on a brilliant night for the Oreston side.
