The high standards continue in 501 Top 20 League

HIGH standards were achieved once again in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League with the 10 fixtures producing 25 maximum scores, 11 of which were scored by just five players.

Heading the plaudits was Gary Phillips who hit no fewer than three, two of which came in a 3-0 singles success.

Team mate Daren Collis also caught the eye when he took out a 14-darter before going on to a 3-0 win as Brookside took maximum points from their visit to Fawn A.

One of the highest ever scoring fixtures came in Porters Patriots 8-3 win over Fawn B when the two teams recorded 128 throws of a ton or more.

PLAUDITS: Gary Phillips earned the plaudits with three scores of 180, two of which came in a 3-0 singles success.

The winners made it 15 victories on the bounce and had Andy Bates winning 3-0, aided by legs in 15 and 18 and Antony Hayman (100x13) won 3-1 with his best games coming in 13 and 15.

The best singles of the match saw John Mann (100x18) take out legs in 15 and 18 before winning 3-2 against Fred Goldsmith (100x14) whose two games were claimed in 15 and 19.

Torpoint Cons secured maximum points from their visit to The Clifton while Maritime Musketeers also won on the road and defeated Brewery Tap 8-3.

Lee Ager was on target with two maximums as was Steve Pearce who also won 3-1 aided by a 14-darter.

Kings Arms were edged out 6-5, despite leading 3-1, when Jon Matlock claimed the 11th and decisive point with a 3-1 victory that included a win in 15.

Dave Matthews (100x12) top scored for Maritime Marauders as they triumphed 7-4 against Indian Inn while Ian Heggie was a lone winner for the Stoke side and hit a brace of 180s in a 3-2 victory.

Compton Social Club emerged 7-4 winners away at Duchy of Cornwall while Maritime Misfits secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer when visiting Waterloo Inn.

Octagon Social Club remain in second spot following an 8-3 victory at City Social and had Tony Lamerton hitting two maximums in a 3-2 success and Alfie Ford emerging a 3-0 winner with his best legs being taken in 14 and 17.

Plympton Cons came from 3-1 down to edge out Falstaff 6-5 and had Paul Bowen registering the highest checkout of the week with a kill of 130.

Other notable outshots were claimed by: Dave Matthews (112), Andy Bates (110), Ian Downing (101), Tony Tasker (100).
