Snowy tops the rankings after Harlequin showing
TWO good performances in the BDDA Harlequin Trophy yesterday, contested at Stafford Rangers Football Club, Stafford, has seen Plymouth’s top disabled darts player move to the top of the wheelchair rankings.
Snowy Dyson, who is one of only two bi-lateral, above the knee amputees, in the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) and the only one in Britain, is now officially the No.1 ranked wheelchair player in the country.
He picked up valuable ranking points in the Open category after starting with a 3-0 victory over David Dreyer.
The former soldier was then taken the full distance by Dave Jenkins before edging it 3-2 which earned him a place in the quarter-finals.
Snowy’s opponent in the last eight was Cornishman Ricky Chilton and the former No.1 BDDA player won in three straight legs before going on to take the title with a 3-1 victory in the final against Pete Bramley.
Dyson carried his good form into the wheelchair classification and began with 2-0 victories over Rick Cartwright and Alan Lamb.
He defeated Stewart Alton 3-1 in the last four but was denied his first BDDA title when John Greensmith won the final in three straight legs.
But an outstanding performance none the less as Snowy stays on target to win a place in the finals of the Road to Winmau Tour which will be contested at the end of the year.
