Hotchkiss earns plaudits in Packet's win over The Fawn

STEAM Packet consolidated their position in the Plymouth and District Friday League with a 9-4 victory against The Fawn and had Neal Hotchkiss (pictured) earning the plaudits with an excellent showing.

In winning his treble, he finished at the first time of asking from 151, for the week’s top checkout and then carried that form into the individual phases when he won his 1001 singles in 30 darts (33.37).

Octagon Social Club won in double figures when defeating Brewery Tap B 11-2 while Weston Mill Oak Villa were also dominant and restricted City Social B to just a single point.

League leaders Kings Tamerton CC were inactive this week and second placed Royal Naval Arms A seized their opportunity to close the gap when winning 10-3, aided by a singles victory in 34 from Andy Bates (29.44).

Glyn Wells (33.37) inspired City Social A to a 12-1 defeat of Bull and Bush with a singles victory in 30, while Pennycross Social Club and Porters both won 8-5 against Dinky Diner A and Mainstone CC respectively.

Mark Shears (27.05) top scored with 13 ton plus throws, five of which came in a 37-dart singles success, but he could not prevent The Windmill from being edged out 7-6 away at Indian Inn B.

Railway Inn won on the road and defeated Queen and Con 9-4 while Brewery Tap A defeated Queens Dock 10-3, inspired by another outstanding performance from Antony Hayman (37.07) who clinched his individual game in 27 darts, aided by a brace of 180s.

City Social C overcame Royal Naval Arms B 10-3, the same winning margin that was also achieved by The Tradesman when hosting Victory Inn.

Mike O’Brien was once again the home side’s talisman, winning his singles in 32 darts for a 31.28 average and also recorded two maximums.
