Tap prevail defeating Victory A in high-scoring fixture

A HIGH-SCORING fixture at Brewery Tap saw the hosts edge out second placed Victory Inn A in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League.

There were 106 throws of a ton or more put up on the scoreboard, five of which were maximums.

Victory’s Neil White (30.67) emerged a 3-0 winner in 17, 15 and 17 and was well supported by Kelvin Rowe (27.83) who was successful in 16, 17 and 21 while Tony Tasker emerged a 3-2 winner with his best leg coming in 13.

Scott Lawrey was on target with a brace of maximums was defeated 3-1 by Maria O’Brien (100x13) in 14, 18 and 21 while also catching the eye was Glyn Wells (26.84) who won in 17, 21 and 18.

With the scoreline evenly posed at 5-5, 17-year-old Jordan Grimshaw stepped up to the oche to win his singles 3-0 and clinch Brewery Tap the match.

Joining Victory Inn A in second spot on 115 points are Kings Arms after they had Reg Matthews (100x11) and Warren Gordon (100x11) top scoring in a 10-1 defeat of Fawn B.

Falstaff restricted a depleted Maritime Nutters to a single point and Victory Inn B edged out Cherry Tree 6-5.

Maritime Misfits won 9-2 away at The Clifton with the best singles performance coming from Frankie Stout (27.83) who won 3-0 in 14, 19 and 21.

Team-mate Jordan Searle was on target with two 180s while Dave Matthews hit two 16-darters in a 3-0 singles win.

Andy Bates (30.67) equalled the week’s top average when wining his singles in 14, 17 and 18 as table-toppers Porters Patriots won 10-1 against Fawn.

Scott Wapshott won 3-1 in 16, 17 and 17 but was the only singles winner for Porters Pretenders as they crashed to an 8-3 defeat away at Maritime Musketeers.

Alfie Ford (100x13) top scored for Octagon in their 8-3 success at Indian Inn while Maritime Governors won away at King Billy.

Andrew Nation (100x13) top scored and Dean Stonehouse brought the teams level at 5-5 only for Lewis Dare (28.36) to clinch the sixth and decisive point for the Governors when emerging a 3-0 winner in 17, 17 and 19.

Fawn A’s Dave Clemson (pictured) threw the week’s top checkout of 121 while also on target were Graham Jones (118), Steve Ebsworth (114), Reg Matthews (112), Jason Pinkerton (104), Dave Pethick (100).
