Brewery Tap win big to open up advantage of 24 points

BREWERY Tap took full advantage of Octagon’s inactivity in the Plymouth City Super League and claimed maximum points against a depleted Staddiscombe team.

They have now played the same number of matches as their nearest rivals but boast a 24-point advantage which they don’t look like relinquishing any time soon.

John Mann (30.67) (pictured) was once again their form player and emerged a 3-0 winner in 17, 15 and 17.

Lewis Dare hit a 14-darter before going on to win his singles by a 3-1 margin, inspiring Victory Inn A to a 10-1 success away at The Fawn.

Ker St A came from 2-0 down to edge out Plympton Cons B 6-5 and there was also a win by the narrowest of margins for Bluebird A against Maritime A although Phil Hoyle showed good form for the hosts with a brace of 180s.

Kings Tamerton CC defeated St Levan Inn 9-2 and had Keith Blight (100x12) and Collin Lynch (100x12) as their leading exponents.

Hayley Brant was the only singles winner for the Keyham side and was also their top scorer with 11 ton plus throws.

Victoria defeated Hyde Park 9-2 while Kings Arms B returned from Victory Inn B with a 7-4 success.

Quinton Taylor caught the eye for the Honicknowle side though when, in winning 3-1, he hit two maximums and took his best leg in 14.

Steam Packet emerged 8-3 winners from their visit to Kings Arms A while Bluebird Bandits and The Clifton both won 7-4 against Maritime B and Cherry Tree respectively.

Andy Malinowski (100x13) was consistent throughout as Plympton Cons A triumphed 8-3 against Ker St B but the visitors did have Paul Tackle registering the week’s top checkout of 118.
