Glyn Plays Well For St Johnston
Glyn Wells produced a masterclass for the St Johnston A as they inflicted a first defeat of the season on leaders Tradesmans A by 8-5.
Wells (30.58) scored 367 points in a 38 dart Trebles success with Kieran Burns and Kevin Evans.
Devon County marksman, Wells (26.34) then repeated the feat in the individual phase; plundering six of his twelve ton plusses on the night in the process.
Kieran Burns, whose side now sit eight off the top in third with a game in hand, was also in good form for the victors as he recorded two maximums in a doubles success.
Second placed King Billy closed the gap at the top to just four points after a 9-4 win over the Queens Arms.
The Devonport team went 6-1 up with Matt Abbott and Andrew Nation sharing a 40 dart 1001 doubles triumph, with the latter also totalling ten three figure scores overall.
Ant Pearn also recorded a 180 for the home side during the team phase before the Tamerton Foliot side rallied in the singles with Steve Harris checking out a fine 106.
Tied for fourth on 39 are Steampacket and Tradesmans B after 7-6 and 8-5 wins over the St Johnston B and Pennycross respectively.
The Devonport side recovered from 2-0, 3-1 and 6-4 down to take the last three singles for the victory with Gareth Hockings bringing home the win in the final leg of the match.
Tradesmans B had Paul Bowen in fine fettle in their home win with a maximum but it was Des Dugdale who took the high checkout plaudits with an 88 for the away side.
The Octagon made it three wins from five outings but will be disappointed to only win by the odd leg in thirteen against Mainstone after going 5-0 up in a spell where Paul Barclay ploughed in a maximum.
Bottom side Ker Street claimed their first win of the campaign after a win by the same score line over Kings Tamerton.
Jordan Turner claimed the highest finish of the week for the home side with a 110 and Wayne Marchant hit three trebles in the same visit before captain Wayne Hobbs won the final leg of the tie to give the win to the Devonport team.
The Grenville were also winners for the first time this season with an 8-5 win over The Lugger.
