Lew Do You Think You Are?

Lewis Dare's superb nineteen ton haul was the main highlight of week 41 in the Steve Chapman 501 League with the youngster winning his singles 3-2 thanks to legs of 16 and 18 darts.



However, that mammoth effort wasn't enough to stop his Octagon team going down 6-5 to St Levans who hit the lion's share of seven maximums with Shaun Dring and Mike Pearce bagging a brace each.


Dare also notched a pair of 180s and also finished 101 in a single visit to the board with the last throw of his victory over Tex Pearce who himself hit ten tons overall.



Both Pearce brothers teamed with Hayley Brant to produce a marvellous 34.83 single dart average in a 23 dart 801 trebles leg.


That was only the beginning of the heroics as Shaun Dring notched ten tons overall and an 18 darter in a 3-1 singles win over Alfie Ford who had earlier hit the seventh 180 of the match.



Mike Pearce claimed the crucial point for the Keyham team with an accomplished 3-0 win that saw him secure a 17 dart leg.


With the score now at an unassailable 6-3 to St Levans, Jayden Dodd joined last on Dare in winning well with Dodd securing a 3-0 win thanks in part to an 18 dart leg.



Leaders King Billy A got over the line in their pub derby match with the B team 6-5 that was accented by John Mann's fourteen three figure scores, including his team's only maximum.


Mann's 3-1 individual success over Devon teammate Mark Shears came with winning legs of 17, 17 and 15 darts whilst Shears hit the B team's only maximum in reply.



Alec Turner joined teammate Antony Hayman in reaching twelve ton plusses whilst Turner bagged the game high checkout of 84 and Andrew Cook was a fourth A team players to get to double figures in tons.


Scott Wapshott top scored for the defeated designated away team for the evening with twelve tons whilst teammates Mark Yeoman and Shears hit eleven and ten tons overall respectively.



A 9-2 demolition job by Fawn B away at Victory A put them firmly in the driving seat for second place in the end of season standings.


Lee Agar (29.47) chalked up two maximums; one of which came in a 3-0 singles win that yielded legs of 17 and 15 darts.



Agar paired with captain Fred Goldsmith (29.32) to take a doubles game 2-0 with thanks to 601 legs of 20 and 21 darts.


Mike O'Brien (26.84) also performed well during the singles phase of play with a maximum and 17 dart leg contributing handsomely to another 3-0 triumph for the Greenbank team.



Paul Goundry (28.35) was the Honicknowle team's shining light on a difficult team night with a maximum contributing to his 3-0 success that was won with the help of legs in 17 and 16 darts.


Goundry also won he team's other point, paired with Darren Collis, when finishing in one visit from 104 with that effort only being usurped by a Jaden Whitting 130 checkout for the victors.



Tom Full's 146 for Torpoint Cons during a 9-2 home defeat against Kings Arms was the highest checkout of the entire week of fixtures in the league.


That checkout beat Dave Algar's 130 in the same match for the Oreston team as Algar also chalked up a 14 darter in his 3-0 singles triumph.



Algar's teammate Paul Hendy had a fine night with fourteen tons overall and a 3-2 individual win which was won thanks in part to a brace of 18 darters.


The bottom four in the last clashed during this game week with wins for the ninth and eleventh placed teams in the standings.



Fawn A won 8-3 at home to Victory B as Mark Sargeant checked a leg with a fine 106 kill and joined teammate Mike Nancholas in the 180 column.


Cherry Tree eventually got over the line 6-5 in their battle of the bottom two matchup with the Indian which was contributed to by eleven tons from Tony Reid.



Reid also helped himself to a maximum during a 3-2 individual success; a feat that was matched by teammate Paul Hoare in his 3-1 singles win.
