Wells hits top game with 38.50 average

GLYN Wells has become only the second player to win his singles in the season’s best of 26 darts (38.50), the feat coming in an 11-2 victory for City Social when hosting Jolly Miller in the Plymouth & District Friday League.

He also top scored with 13 throws of a ton or more, six of which were recorded in the record-breaking victory.

Kings Tamerton CC had Richard Lynch checking out from 120 in their 12-1 defeat of Indian Inn A, a victory which gives them a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Second placed Porters A had Antony Hayman (29.44) winning in 34 as they defeated Indian Inn A 11-2 while Maritime B went down 8-5 when hosting The Tradesman, despite winning four of the six singles.

A win in 38 for Jonathan Easterbrook (26.34) was the highlight of Maritime A’s 13-0 drubbing of Indian B while Steam Packet B defeated Stoke Bar & Grill 11-2.

SEASON’S BEST: Glyn Wells equalled the season’s best game of 26 darts for City Social, posting a superb average of 38.50.

Andy Bates (28.60) won in 35, aiding Royal Naval Arms A to a 12-1 success against The Fawn while Steve Marker (30.33) finished a 33-darter with a kill of 117, the highlight of an 11-2 victory at Brookside.

GWRSA (Laira) edged in front of Waterloo A 6-5 after Matt Legge had won with the week’s highest checkout of 147, only for the hosts to win it 7-6 after victories from Rich Hadley and Martin Dean.

The trio of Porters B, Waterloo C and Octagon Social Club all won by a 10-3 margin.

The highest possible checkout of 170 was achieved in week 34 by Richard Lynch while the best game was won in 33 darts (30.33) by Matt Thomspon in the singles and Paul Gavican and Matt Legge in the doubles.

Waterloo B had Chris Beale recording the highest checkout of 158 in week 35 and Lynch (28.60) was again prominent when winning his singles in 35.

Indian Inn recorded the top games in week 36 and had Mike Whatley, Paul Gavican and Bryan Hodgins clinching their treble in 33 darts (30.33) before Whatley paired up with Steve Ebsworth to claim their doubles game in 34 (29.44).

The highest checkout of 130 was achieved by Martin Wright (Brookside) and Steam Packet B’s Matt Thompson.

Matt Legge (32.29) registered the best game in week 37 with a win in 31, hitting six three-figure scores which included a maximum.
