Maritime's first defeat in super league but stay top
MARITIME suffered their first defeat of the season in the premier division of the Devon County Super League but still maintain in top spot, although their lead has been cut to four points.
They were defeated 6-3 away at The Racehorse and it is fair to say that the Tiverton side deserved their win with some excellent performances, none more so than by former Plymouth player Adrian Lamerton (27.18).
Mike Pearce (24.02) won the opener for Maritime but they then lost four on the bounce before Dan Johnson (22.17) emerged a 4-2 winner, after coming back from a 2-0 deficit.
The hosts then wrapped up their victory before Scott Hutchinson (25.29) won 4-2.
BEST AVERAGE: John Mann produced the top performance from all the Plymouth super league teams when he won in 17, 15, 18 and 14 to claim the best average of 30.42.
Also in the premier division, Porters Patriots were unlucky not to pick up a win when hosting Winchester Warriors (Exeter) as they were edged out 5-4.
John Mann (30.42) gave them the perfect start when he opened their account with a 4-1 victory in 17, 15, 18 and 14, aided by a checkout of 124.
The visitors pulled one back, but Porters’ advantage was restored when Andy Bates (28.23) won 4-3 in 22, 17, 13 and 19.
Only Antony Hayman (23.58), in winning 4-0, claimed a point from the next four sets but Mark Odgers (23.07) brought the teams level at 4-4 when he won 4-2, aided by an outshot of 108.
There was no doubt about the deciding point though and Winchester took the spoils back to Exeter when claiming the last in four straight legs.
Ker St Social Club remain in second spot in division one after they won 6-3 when hosting Golden Lions (Exeter) 6-3.
Tom James (18.29) and Mark Hatherley (23.36) got the Devonport side off to a good start with 4-2 and 4-1 victories respectively before the visitors levelled.
Scott Lawrey (19.84) put Ker St back in front with a 4-0 success and although Golden Level drew level for the second time, the hosts wrapped up a good performance with wins from Gary Phillips (25.06), aided by a checkout of 101, Darren Collis (17.03) and Mark Cresswell (23.86).
Porters Pretenders returned from Exmouth with little to show for their efforts after losing 6-3 to Muff Boyz.
Lewis Dare came from 3-1 down to win 4-3, aided by a checkout of 109 and there were also victories for George Tucker (18.22) and Mark Shears (24.04).
