Patriots go through the 100pt mark after 11 matches

PORTERS Patriots went crashing through the 100-point barrier with an 11-0 whitewash of Waterloo in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League, despite having to call in re-inforcements due to work commitments.

The table-toppers had to include pub landlady Sharon Bishop in the line up and she didn’t disappoint, remaining undefeated throughout and only dropping one leg in a solid singles victory.

Their total of 110 points from just 11 matches is an amazing achievement and they boast a 22-point advantage over their nearest rivals Octagon Social Club.

Octagon secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer at Duchy of Cornwall and had Dave Pethick clinching a 3-0 singles victory, aided by a leg in 14.

LONE WINNER: Brian Bibik was Clifton's only winner in the individual phases and achieved a 3-1 victory after hitting checkouts of 109 and 114.

Third placed Plympton Cons, won 7-4 away at Kings Arms while Maritime Marauders relinquished a 4-2 lead and were eventually edged out 6-5 by their stablemates, Maritime Misfits.

Brookside Social Club defeated Indian Inn 7-4 with Scott Lawrey earning the plaudits.

He got a point for the side when winning his individual game 3-1 and in one of the legs was on a nine-darter after six perfect darts but had to settle for a leg in 12.

Porters Pretenders were edged out 6-5 by Maritime Musketeers, despite having been put 5-3 up when Mark Shears (28.36) won the eighth point with a 3-0 win in 16, 19 and 18.

Compton Social Club had won only once in their previous 10 outings but returned to winning ways when they edged out Fawn A 6-5.

Torpoint Cons won on the road and returned to Cornwall with a 9-2 victory which was achieved at Brewery Tap.

City Social won 7-4 away at Falstaff and had Glynn Wells as their leading marksman with a total of 18 ton plus scores, 11 of which came in a 3-1 singles win.

There was some consolation though for the Southway side when they achieved the week’s top checkout through Lewis Dare (100x14) who finished at the first time of asking from 130.

Also on target were: John Goves (120), Tony Teal (117), Brian Bibik (114 &109), Kelvin Rowe (110), Tony Tasker (107), Maria O’Brien (104), Dave Collins (100).
