Europe bound for six of Plymouth's leading players

SIX of Plymouth’s leading darts players will fly to Bucharest today, to compete in the Romanian International Darts Open and Romanian Classic Darts Open which will take place from January 26-28.

Lee Hunter, Mark Turner, Lewis Dare, Scott Lawrey, Gary Phillips and Billy Evans will be hoping to go as far in both tournaments as their ability will take them, chasing some of the prizemoney which totals over 10,000 Euros for the two events.

EUROPE BOUND: Lee Hunter will be one of six Plymouth darts players who will contest two European titles in Romania this coming weekend.

The winners of both tournaments will also win automatic entries into the 2018 Winmau World Masters.

The Romanian tournament is no stranger to the city’s darts players as it was only a year ago that Plymouth’s BDO World Championship finalist, Maria O’Brien won the ladies’ Romanian Classic, beating Paula Jacklin in the final.

Maria has made the decision not to defend her title this time around but instead will aim for the higher category event of the Dutch Open in February.
