Maritme A are beaten for the first time in 29 matches

MARITIME A lost for the first time in 29 matches in the Monday Premier League, when they were edged out 6-5 by Steam Packet B, in an excellent fixture where five maximums were recorded, and each team threw 54 scores of a ton or more.

 

For the winners, Quinton Taylor took out a 14-darter before going on to a 3-2 singles success and Neil White was consistent throughout and top scored with 17 throws of a ton or more.

 

Maritime’s Shaun Dring emerged a 3-0 winner, aided by a 15 darter which he finished with the week’s highest checkout of 154.

 

League leaders Porters A have moved five points in front following a 9-2 victory against Bluebird and had John Mann top scoring with 14 ton plus throws which included outshots of 103 and 114 which came in a 3-0 singles success.

 

 WINNER: Maritime's Shaun Dring emerged a 3-0 and finished a 15-dart leg with the week's highest checkout of 154.

 

Kieron Burns was another to show his finishing prowess when he made kills of 120 and 110 from a 14-ton haul, as he inspired Maritime B to a 7-4 victory away at Steam Packet A.

 

Prince Maurice A won 7-4 at Indian B and in the best game of the night Glenn Halford (100x13) won with legs taken in 14 and 15 but was pushed the full distance by former Cornwall county player Michelle Davis, before winning 3-2.

 

Brookside C (formerly Railway Inn) edged out Brookside A 6-5 and had Keith Lemon and Keith Whitley winning their 601 doubles 2-1, aided by a leg in 17.

 

Octagon Social Club made a brilliant recovery when hosting Indian Inn A and won the last four singles with the loss of just a single leg to gain a 6-5 victory.

 

Andy Bates (100x13) gave a good account of himself in a 3-0 singles victory but was the only winner for Porters B as they crashed to a 9-2 defeat away at Firkin Scholar.

 

Brookside B secured the last two singles to edge out Prince Maurice B 6-5 and there was also a win by the narrowest of margins for Ford Hotel away at City Social.

 

Trailing 3-1 and 5-3, Ford Hotel pulled it back to 5-5 before Lisa Aston emerged a 3-0 winner to give them a well-earned 6-5 victory.

 

Notable outshots from across the boards were delivered by: Brian Lumsdon (138), Paul Barclay (130), Mark Henley (120), Jon Parsons (120), Matt Nicholson (116), Steve Daley (100), Gary Phillips (100), Andy Nation (100).
