Kings remain top but advantage cut to just two points

KINGS Tamerton CC remain top of the Plymouth and District Friday League but have had their advantage cut to just two points after winning 8-5 away at The Windmill, in a fixture that saw five maximums recorded.

 

Mark Shears (32.29), for the Leigham side, hit a brace of 180s and he also caught the eye when winning his singles in 31 darts.

 

Royal Naval Arms A consolidated second spot with a 10-3 win over Indian Inn A and have the advantage of a game in hand over the leaders while The Tradesman produced arguably their best performance to date and whitewashed City Social B 13-0.

 

City Social A, restricted Brewery Tap B to a just a single point and they were dominant as early as the second treble when Shaun Williams, Kieran Burns (pictured) and Cat Callard won their game in 30 darts (33.37).

 

Queens Dock led City Social C 4-1 after the first five disciplines but had to settle for a 6-5 win, while also winning by the narrowest of margins were Indian Inn B and Pennycross SC against Porters and Waterloo Inn respectively.

 

Dinky Diner A won in double figures when beating Royal Naval Arms B 10-3 while Jolly Miller secured the last three singles on their visit to Weston Mill Oak Villa to prevail by the odd game of 13.

 

Brewery Tap A defeated Brookside 11-2 and had Antony Hayman (30.33) claiming his singles in 33 and Pete James (100x12) top scoring.

 

Jodie Hawton was also prominent throughout and achieved the week’s highest checkout with a mark of 96.

 

The Fawn, who had Mark Sargeant (100x11) as their leading marksman won by the narrowest of margins away at Octagon but they led 5-1 at one time, and despite the hosts levelling at 5-5, The Fawn clinched two of the last three singles for victory.

 

Steam Packet defeated Dinky Diner 11-2, the highlight being a 37-dart doubles success for Matt Thompson and Kayleigh Adams (27.05).
