Fawn B recover deficit and take last four points to win

FAWN B made a great recovery when hosting Octagon Social Club in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League and won the last four singles to prevail by the narrowest of margins.

Trailing 5-2, Fred Goldsmith began the revival with a 3-1 victory, aided by a leg in 14 and there were further successes for Robbie Newland (3-0), Dave Hall (3-0) and Dave Jones (3-1) to see the Greenbank side over the line.

Octagon’s Alfie Ford gave a good account of himself and was their leading marksman with 14 throws of a ton or more.

MATT FINISH: Maritime's Matt Pearce recorded the week's top checkout with a mark of 145.

Kings Arms secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer away at Brewery Tap while Compton Social Club emerged 8-3 winners when hosting Waterloo Inn.

Maritime Musketeers were 7-4 winners against Fawn A for whom Dan Hill was one of only two individual successes and was their leading marksman with 14 ton plus scores.

Mike Whatley (100x14) inspired Indian Inn to a win by the narrowest of margins against Duchy of Cornwall and hit two maximums in a 3-0 singles victory.

Mike Bulmer (100x11) caught the eye in Torpoint Cons’ 7-4 win against The Falstaff while Martime Misfits restricted City Social to a single point.

Danny Allen (26.37) emerged a 3-0 winner in 20, 21 and 16 while Dan Scott (100x14) top scored.

Social’s solitary point came from young Jordan Grimshaw who defeated Scott Hutchinson in three straight legs.

Brookside defeated Maritime Marauders 7-4 and the fixture provided one excellent match up Scott Lawrey (100x13) edged out Phil Hoyle (100x12) 3-2, with both players taking legs in 13.

Despite finishing up on the losing side, Matt Pearce took some consolation when he threw the week’s top checkout when finishing at the first time of asking from 145.

Other notable outshots were achieved by: Dan Hill (118), Ian Downing (117), Scott Lawrey (110), Lewis Dare (109).
