Leading quartet remain in contention for league title

THE top four teams all won in double figures and the race for the Monday Premier League title remains as intense as ever with only two points separating the quartet.

Porters A, leaders by a single point, won 10-1 against Steam Packet A and received good service from Lewis Dare (25.91) who emerged a 3-0 winner in 18, 17 and 23 while team-mate Mike Miller threw the week’s top checkout when finishing from 155.

Victory A remain in the mix after restricting The Bluebird to just a single point with Tony Tasker winning 3-1, aided by a 15-darter and Gary Phillips (100x15) as their leading exponent.

Antony Hayman (100x11) led from the front as Brewery Tap won 10-1 against Victory B while Steam Packet B secured maximum points when hosting Porters B, the highlight being a checkout of 143 from Steve Plumley.

Ford Hotel came from 3-1 down to edge out Indian Inn B 6-5 while Octagon B won 8-3 away at Hyde Park Social Club and had Alfie Ford emerging a 3-1 winner with his best leg being achieved in 14.

Octagon A returned from the Cherry Tree with an 8-3 victory and Fred Goldsmith caught the eye when a 15-dart leg was the highlight of a 3-1 singles success.

Kieran Burns (27.33) (pictured) emerged a 3-0 winner in 20, 17 and 18, inspiring Maritime to a 9-2 defeat of Plympton Cons while Firkin Scholar won 8-3 away at Prince Maurice B.

Indian Inn A won by the same margin away at Cherry Tree B and had Danny Bull taking his singles in three straight legs, with his best being won in 15.

Notable outshots were achieved by: Jaydon Dodd (126/100), Eddy Bull (124), Gary Phillips (118), Paul Gavican (118), Matt Lang (112), Stewart Roberts (111), Teresa Brookshaw (105), Lewis Dare (100).
