February 5, 2019

BULL and Bush belied their position in the Plymouth and District Friday League when they took the title favourites to 5-5 before being edged out in the final game of the match.

No fewer than 200 points separated the two teams before this fixture, but it needed a last gasp singles victory from Simon Godfrey to save Kings Tamerton CC’s blushes.

Indian Inn B lost 9-4 away at Weston Mill Oak Villa but not before the visitors had Mark Hatherley (30.33) (pictured) equalling the best game of the week when winning his singles in 33.

The feat was also achieved by Andy Bates who inspired Royal Naval Arms A to a 9-4 success away at Pennycross Social Club.

City Social A secured all but one of the 13 points that were on offer when they visited Dinky Diner B and had Jordan Grimshaw (27.81) winning in 36 and Glyn Wells (100x12) top scoring.

Brewery Tap A won in double figures when beating Mainstone 11-2, the highlights being two games won in 38 by Antony Hayman (26.34) and Alex Turner (26.34).

The week’s highest checkout was a mark of 120 executed by Steve Eveleigh for Bull and Bush the only other two recorded were both finishes of 108 from Paul Nash and Antony Hayman.
