Maritime consolidate position at top of Super League

MARITIME A consolidated their position at the top of the Plymouth City Super League with an 8-3 victory over The Clifton in a fixture that saw eight maximums recorded.

The winners scored no fewer than 63 ton plus scores along the way, headed by Stew Roberts (100x13) who emerged a 3-2 winner, aided by legs in 14 and 16.

Scott Lawrey (26.84) was a 3-0 winner in 16, 19 and 21 while team mate Cameron Pickard won 3-2 in 13, 18 and 21.

Second placed Porters had Scott Wapshott (100x14) top scoring in their 7-4 defeat of Maritime B while at the other end of the table, following 21 straight defeats, Victoria tasted success for the first time when they beat St Levan Inn 7-4.

Dave Algar caught the eye when hitting a 15-darter in a 3-0 singles success but could not prevent The Staddy from being edged out 6-5 when Tony Lamerton (180x2) won the decisive sixth point for The Tradesman.

Kelvin Rowe emerged a 3-0 winner in 24, 16 and 19 as Plympton Cons A won 10-1 against Compton while Maritime C came from behind to edge out Kings A 6-5.

There was also a close encounter at The Fawn, but the winners were Kings Arms B by a 6-5 margin while Plympton Cons B and Octagon both won 9-2 against Ker St Social Club and Cherry Tree respectively.

Steve Harris (100x14) inspired The Bluebird to a 7-4 victory over The Albemarle but the Whitleigh side had some consolation when Neil Holder (pictured) threw the week’s top checkout with a mark of 149.
