Maritime consolidate their advantage at top of table

MARITIME A consolidated their lead at the top of the Plymouth City Super League when they took maximum points from hosting The Albemarle.

Quinton Taylor caught the eye in the individual phases and in winning 3-0, achieved his best legs in 17 and 18.

Second placed Porters kept up their assault on the leaders when they won 10-1 against The Tradesman.

Mike Beard hit three maximums throughout, two of them coming in a 3-0 singles victory which was enhanced by a leg in 15.

John Mann (31.31) was also prominent in the singles and emerged a 3-0 winner in 13, 17 and 18.

Maritime B have now moved up the table to join Octagon in third place after a 10-1 victory away at Cherry Tree that saw five maximums recorded.

Two 180s were scored by Phil Hoyle (pictured) in a 3-0 singles success which was boosted by a 12-darter that Hoyle finished with a checkout of 121.

Plympton Cons A took maximum points from their visit to St Levan Inn, a fixture that produced five maximums, two coming from Cons’ leading marksman Dave Collins (100x11).

Gary Eaton emerged a 3-0 winner finishing one of the legs with a kill of 110, but finished up on the wrong end of an 8-3 scoreline when Victoria were defeated by The Staddy.

Maritime C came from behind and won the last two singles in order to prevail by the narrowest of margins against Plympton Cons B while The Clifton won 8-3 away at Compton and Kings A were beaten 8-3 on their visit to The Fawn.

Glenn Halford (100x14) top scored for The Bluebird in their 7-3 defeat of Ker St Social Club while Octagon won 8-3 when they visited Kings Arms B.

Steve Packer won 3-0 aided by a checkout of 115 while team-mate Fred Goldsmith threw the week’s top outshot with a kill of 126 but it came in a 3-1 defeat by the hosts only individual winner, Dave Johns.
