Packet B back in contention for title after rivals lose

STEAM Packet B are back in the Monday Premier League title race after an overwhelming 10-1 victory against Indian Inn B and a 6-5 defeat for their rivals Victory A.


Alec Turner emerged a 3-1 winner for the Devonport side, aided by a leg in 15 and was well supported by Neil White (100x13).


Tabletoppers Victory Inn A have had their six-point advantage trimmed back to just a single point after Prince Maurice B won the last two singles to win by the narrowest of margins.


 The Tradesman were in a rich vein of form and received good service from Paul Tackle (100x15), Malcolm Johns (100x14) and Tony Lamerton (100x13) before defeating Porters A 8-3.


Plympton Cons defeated Steam Packet A 9-2 and had Paul Bowen and Andy Searle winning their doubles, aided by a 601 leg in 20 darts.


Firkin Scholar defeated Porters B 9-2 and had Frankie Stout as their leading marksman with 10 ton plus scores, nine of which came in a confident 3-1 singles success.


Glenn Halford (100x17) (pictured) was impressive when inspiring Prince Maurice A to a 10-1 win away at Victory Inn B while Octagon A plundered maximum points from their visit to Hyde Park Social Club.


Octagon B won 9-2 when hosting Bluebird A but it was Mark Henley for the visitors who caught the eye when he hit a 15-darter in a 3-1 singles success.


Indian Inn A dispatched an under-strength City Social side 11-0 and Bluebrid B triumphed 8-3 at Cherry Tree while a 14-darter from Paul Gavican was the highlight of Brewery Tap’s 9-2 win over Ford Hotel.


In a re-arranged fixture, Maritime came from behind and won the last four singles to edge out City Social 6-5.


Plympton Cons’ Andy Bond threw the highest checkout with a mark of 134 while other notable finishes were achieved by: Rich Coombs (128), Neil White (118), Scott Wapshott (118), Sarah Brown (110), Tony Conn (106).
