Victory eyeing runners-up spot following a good run

VICTORY Inn A consolidated third place in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League with a 9-2 victory away at Porters Pretenders and with a game in hand, could soon be challenging for runners-up.

The high scoring fixture produced seven maximum throws, three of which were recorded by Kelin Rowe and his Victory team-mate Tony Tasker (pictured) was also on target and recorded the week’s top checkout of 142.

Champions elect Porters Patriots secured maximum points from their visit to Victory Inn B and an in-form John Mann again caught the eye when winning 3-1, aided by a 15-darter and top scoring with 17 ton-plus scores which included outshots of 111 and 118.

Jason Pinkerton won his singles after being pushed the full distance, aided by a leg in 15, as Maritime Governors triumphed 9-2 away at Indian Inn B.

A well contested fixture at Oreston put 90 throws of a ton or more on the scoreboard, five of which were 180s as Kings Arms came from behind and won the last three singles to edge it 6-5.

Dave Collins (100x12) top scored for Kings with Kenny McCollum (100x12) replying for Maritime Musketeers.

Brewery Tap defeated Compton Social Club 7-4, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Maritime Marauders when hosting Octagon, with Phil Hoyle (100x15) and Tex Pearce (100x13) as their leading marksmen.

Cherry Tree had to settle for a win by the narrowest of margins, despite leading 6-2, while The Office won the last two singles of their fixture to edge out Fawn B 6-5.

The Melbourne defeated Maritime Nutters 9-2 while Mike Nancholas (100x14) caught the eye in Fawn’s 10-1 victory away at Indian Inn A.
