Octagon win 10-1 and consolidate at the top of table

OCTGAON A were the only team to win in double figures and consolidated their lead at the top of the Monday Premier League when achieving a 10-1 victory over Porters B, with Lee Hellings (25.47) emerging a 3-0 winner in 16, 21 and 22.

Steam Packet remain in the mix but despite leading Indian Inn A 3-0, at 5-4 down they had to rely on Alec Turner and Alex Brown to get them over the line.

Danny Bull (100x11) caught the eye for the visitors and hit two maximums in a 3-1 success which included a 13-darter and Charlie Mitchell was also productive and took out a 14-dart leg before going on to a 3-1 win.

Victory Inn A defeated Union Inn (formerly Plympton Cons) 9-2 and had Darren Collis (100x15) emerging a 3-0 winner aided by a leg in 15.

Union’s only winner Nathan Langdon (100x11) also took out a leg in 15 before winning 3-1.

Firkin Scholar won 8-3 away at Indian Inn B while Rich Coombs (100x11) was the form player for Bluebird B in their 9-2 defeat of Ford Hotel.

The same winning scoreline was also achieved by Maritime SC against Victory Inn B who had Kieran Burns (100x17) top-scoring.

Dan Johnson took out a leg in 14 but was defeated by Victory’s only single’s winner Phil Hoskin.

Brewery Tap remain in the mix after winning 9-2 away at Bluebird A while Porters A overcame Octagon B 7-4 and had Scott Wapshott and Matt Chegwin winning their 601 doubles in two straight legs which included an 18-darter.

The Tradesman edged out Bluebird C 6-5 with John Mann (28.36) winning 3-0 in 20, 17 and 16.

Tony Lamerton (pictured) was also on target with the week’s highest checkout of 160 while other notable finishes were achieved by: Scott Cook (148), Frankie Stout (127), Micky Organ (123), Alex Brown (112), Rich Coombs (100), Scott Wapshott (100).
