Title Race Is At Break Of New Fawn

John Mann put on quite a show as Steve Chapman 501 League leaders Cherry Tree B were roundly beaten 9-2 by title rivals and current champions Fawn B.

Mann fired eighteen of the one hundred and thirty-three ton plus scores put up by both teams whilst teammate Andy Bates added fifteen scores of a ton or more.

Bates total was topped up by a maximum and the highest checkout of the week of 138 whilst three more players for the second placed side were ton hitters in double figures.

Fred Goldsmith and Luke Johnson both ended their night on eleven tons whilst Simon Washington rounded off an emphatic victory with a ten ton total that included a 105 checkout.

Whilst the score line suggests one way traffic, the leaders who had their advantage cut from eleven to four certainly played their part.

Phil Hoyle put on thirteen ton plusses included two maximums whilst Scott Wapshott added twelve scores of a ton or more.

Mark Shears was another to hear '180' called after throwing twice and that tally ticked his personal ton total over to the eleven mark.

Each of the quintet of team games were decided by a solitary leg with the reigning champs taking all five before the singles phase showed the class of the two outfits.

Mann and Hoyle shared five legs that didn't go beyond seven visits to the board as Mann bested his opponent 3-2 thanks to a crucial leg in 18.

Bates was defeated by Shears 3-2 despite a leg in 16 before Washington was a 3-1 winner with an 18 darter his best.

Dave Johns was a seventeen plus man as his heroics enabled Kings Arms to come away from their home match with a 10-1 triumph over Bar Mez.

Johns added two of the six maximums in the match with teammate Mark Yeoman also netting himself a brace of three treble visits.

Tom Full and Lee Rodmell were the 180 hitters for the visitors from Torpoint whilst the latter checked 82 in a single visit for the best of the thirty-two checkouts in the game.

Andrew Cook fired fourteen tons and a 96 checkout as his efforts were the main catalyst behind a King Billy 9-2 win over Cherry Tree C.

Cook was also prominent in the individual phase with legs in 17 and 16 darts to get the better of his opponent by a 3-1 score line.

Cook's brother Scott added three of the four maximums in the match with two of those coming in a 3-0 singles demolition of Cornwall county teammate Lee Hellings, despite Hellings adding his team's only 180 in the loss.

Hellings' teammate Dave Lee was the most prominent scorer for the defeated visitors as he heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than eleven times after throwing.

A thirteen ton haul by Dan Brazier and ten more by teammate Will Broome sparked a Cherry Tree A 8-3 win over Fawn A.

Brazier's 18 darter came in a 3-2 loss whilst teammate James Ewing fired the game's only maximum during a 2-0 doubles win.

The cherry on top of Paul Goundry's thirteen ton haul in a 7-4 win for Victory A over Bluebird was two maximums and a game high checkout of 116.

That bettered a 111 by teammate Paddy Archibald who ended his night on ten tons, thanks in part to another maximum for his team.

Kelvin Rowe made it for 180s for the home side with Alan Masters firing the away team's only three treble visit of the contest.

Jack McMinn was the best scoring player for the defeated team with twelve tons whilst the individual phase was littered with a handful of short games.

McMinn's teammate Lewis Whitley was defeated 3-1 despite him nailing an 18 darter whilst Alex Roach repeated that feat against Masters.

Goundry added the least number of darts to his list of honours for the night with an accomplished 16 darter helping him to a 3-0 success.

Mark Hatherley showed flashes of genius with eleven tons but still found himself on the wrong end of an 8-3 reversal as Indian Inn were downed by Victory Hammers.

Hatherley's night was accented by his team's only maximum as well as an 18 darter that turned out to be crucial in a 3-2 win.

Ryan and Kieran Harris provided the sparks for the victorious visitors as the pair nailed a maximum each in their team's fourth win of the campaign.

A 100 checkout by Mike Pearce was joined by ten more three figure scores to leave the St Levans man on eleven tons during a 10-1 win for his Keyham side over Victory Fireballs.

Tex Pearce was also in good nick throughout with ten tons and he picked up the best leg of the individual phase with a 13 darter during one of four 3-0 wins.

Jason and Steve Smout both finished on ten ton plusses to lead Beacon Park to an 8-3 win over Ivybridge CC that also contained an 80 checkout by Ashley Evens.

A trio of maximums helped Tradesmans to a 6-5 win over Cherry Tree D as Lewis Bryne's brace was added to by Jordan Grimshaw.

Grimshaw also saw his 88 checkout take the best finish of the closely fought contest that saw the home side surrender leads of 2-0 and 3-1.

The derby match between Octagon and Duchy Of Cornwall finished 11-0 to the former with 180s for each side provided by Robbie Bisgrove and Jordan Heath.
