Webb Passing Rightly Disrupts Steve Chapman 501 League

Just three fixtures were played out in the Steve Chapman 501 League due to postponements; two of which due to the untimely and shock passing of long serving Victory darts player and captain, Pete Webb.

Whilst Webb rarely had personal moments of brilliance in front of the dartboard, his ability to motivate others through his passion and warm nature was undoubted, and rarely rivalled in his era.

Webb was remembered in an overwhelming outpouring on social media for being a special man, a true gent and one of the nicest people you'd ever have met; a fitting tribute to a great member of our community.

Lee Rodmell top scored with sixteen three figure scores but that wasn't enough to stop his Torpoint Cons team going down 9-2 to runaway leaders King Billy A.

Antony Hayman (31.31) was the Devonport team's best player in the singles; winning legs in 14,16,18 whilst John Mann top scored for the Billy Boyz with thirteen three figure scores.

Mann also added a 14 darter of his own whilst teammate Andrew Cook (27.34) won 3-0 with a brace of 18 darters in his individual game.

Cook's brother Scott added twelve tons of his own whilst Andrew Cook joined Hayman in hitting a maximum in the game.

The highest finish honours in the contest went to Andy Bates who finish in one visit from 110 in his 3-2 individual success.

That effort was only bettered on the night across all fixtures by Billy Evans 140 in King Billy B's 9-2 win over bottom side Indian Inn.

Evans was also one of three players to hit maximums in the tie with teammate Mark Shears adding to Chris Beale's effort for the Indian.

Paul Gavican and Scott Wapshott shared the honour of the least number of darts with both hitting 17 darters, however, Wapshott followed this with an 18 dart leg in his 3-0 win.

Kings Arms came away from their trip to Fawn A with a narrow 6-5 win thanks to Chrissie Kinnaird winning the last tie of the match 3-0.

Kinnaird was one of four players to hit a maximum on the night with Fawn's Dave Clemson adding to efforts by Kinnaird's teammates Warren Gordon and Reg Matthews.

Matthews added a 96 checkout to his night's work whilst Dave Algar was the Oreston team's top scorer with ten ton plusses.

However, that total was beaten by Pete Cudmore-Ray's eleven three figure scores for the defeated Greenbank team.
