March 21, 2018

THE top two sides in the Plymouth City Super League both secured 11-0 victories as they leave the chasing pack in their wake.

Porters B, having played a game more, boast an eight-point advantage after they whitewashed The Fawn with Mike Beard earning the plaudits.

The marksman hit no fewer than four maximum scores and secured a checkout of 114 while their title rivals, The Staddy, defeated Hyde Park Social Club, inspired by a 14-leg from Tony Gordon which came in a 3-0 singles success.

Plympton Cons B were another side to win 11-0 on their visit to Victoria and they had John Donald notching a brace of 180s.

TARGET MAN: Mike Beard was on target for Porters B with four maximum scores of 180.

Ships Tavern defeated Compton Social Club 7-4 while Porters A won by the narrowest of margins when they hosted Kings Arms A.

Octagon Social Club edged out Maritime A 6-5 and were further boosted when Alfie Ford’s outshot of 116, which came in a 3-0 singles victory, was not bettered.

Steve Harris (100x13) caught the eye trying to lift his Clifton A side to success but they went down by the odd game of 11 away at Albemarle.

Maria O’Brien (100x12) top scored for St Levan in their 8-3 victory at Clifton B while a well contested fixture at Kings Arms went right to the wire.

Paul Hendy took out a 114 outshot and claimed a 3-1 singles victory for the Oreston side which brought the scoreline to 5-5, only for Maritime B to win the 11th and decisive point through Neil White (27.33)

Their talisman was in a rich vein of form and won 3-0 in 20, 18 and 17 and team-mate Mark Williams was also noticeable with two throws of 180.

Plympton Cons A defeated Ker St 9-2 and had Dave Collins finishing a 15-darter with an outshot of 106 before going on to a 3-0 singles victory which keeps him top of the individual table.
