Kings Tamerton edge closer to P&D Friday League title

KINGS TAMERTON CC made a bold statement in their quest for the Plymouth and District Friday League title when they defeated their nearest rivals for the second time this season.

Their 8-5 victory away at Royal Naval Arms A has put them 30 points in front of the Keyham side, but although they have played a game more, they are still red-hot favourites to take the title.

Naval Arms did have some consolation when Andy Bates (32.29) (pictured below), hit seven ton plus scores before equalling the week’s best game in 31 darts when defeating Richard Lynch (180x2).

City Social B took maximum points when hosting Victory Inn while also winning in double figures were Steam Packet who defeated The Windmill 11-2, aided by a 35-dart doubles success for Phil Taylor and George Beckett (28.60).

Weston Mill Oak Villa defeated Pennycross Social Club 10-3 while Mainstone made a great recovery when hosting Queens Dock to win by the narrowest of margins after trailing 5-1.

The Tradesman won the team game in 38 (26.34) before going on to triumph 9-4 at Railway, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Dinky Diner B away at City Social C.

Sam Evans won the 13th and deciding point which enabled Dinky Diner A to achieve a 7-6 win against The Fawn while also winning by the narrowest of margins was Queen and Constitution when hosting Brewery Tap B.

Porters defeated Royal Naval Arms B 8-5 while City Social A returned from Indian Inn B with a 10-3 victory, who received good service from Kieran Burns (27.81) who won in 36 and Glynn Wells (28.60) who was successful in 35.

Brewery Tap A just got the better of Indian Inn A by the odd point of 13, inspired once again by a superb performance from Antony Hayman.

He partnered Jodie Hawton to a doubles victory in 31 (32.29), which equalled the week’s top game, before going on to take his singles in 33 (30.33).

The Haymaker not surprisingly also finished the match as the leading marksman with 14 throws of a ton or more which included three maximum scores of 180.

The week’s top checkout of 118 was achieved by both Mark Hatherley (Indian Inn B) and Steve Dobson (The Fawn) while also on target were Antony Hayman (116) and Bryan Hodgins (116).
