Porters Patriots to start run-in with 13-point advantage
TEAMS have now completed the first half of the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League campaign and Porters Patriots will begin the final run-in, 13 points clear of their nearest rivals and protecting a 19-match unbeaten run.
They secured maximum points away at Maritime Musketeers and had John Mann (100x13) top scoring backed up by good singles wins from Antony Hayman and Andy Bates who both took out 14-darters.
In the best singles of the evening, Kenny McCollum (100x16) pushed Bates the full distance before losing 3-2.
Brewery Tap defeated The Office 7-4 recording 54 throws of a ton or more, headed by Maria O’Brien (100x16) and Steve Brocklesby (100x13).
Kings Arms won in double figures when restricting Compton Social Club to a single point while Fawn A and Victory B were both 9-2 winners against Indian Inn B and Maritime Nutters respectively.
Shaun Dring (27.83) emerged a 3-0 singles winner in 17, 19 and 18, inspiring Maritime Marauders to a 10-1 victory against Indian Inn A while Victory Inn A returned from The Falstaff with a 7-4 success.
Scott Lawrey (100x13) top scored for the Honicknowle side while in a well contested singles encounter, Lewis Dare (100x14), despite taking a leg in 14, was edged out 3-2 by Gary Phillips.
Porters Pretenders defeated Melbourne Inn 7-4, inspired by a good performance from Scott Wapshott (26.84) who emerged a 3-0 winner in 17, 18 and 21.
Jordan Searle (180x2) was one of only two singles winners for the visitors, the other being young Frankie Stout who continues to enjoy a purple patch as of late.
Fawn B defeated Octagon Social Club 7-4 and had Lee Hellings winning 3-0, with his best legs coming in 15 and 16 while Harry Harrison (100x13) top scored.
In a challenging singles encounter, Fred Goldsmith (100x12), for The Fawn, defeated Alfie Ford (100x13) 3-2, aided by a leg in 15.
Maritime Governors won 9-2 at Cherry Tree and received good service from Jason Pinkerton (pictured) who notched a brace of 180s as well as hitting the week’s top checkout with a mark of 144.
