Scott sets season's new mark with top checkout of 170

SCOTT Hutchinson (pictured) set a new mark for the season’s highest checkout in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League when, in helping Maritime Governors to a 7-4 victory over their stablemates Maritime Musketeers, he achieved the best possible outshot of 170.

Team mate Paul Palmer was also prominent and in winning his singles by a 3-2 margin, his best legs were claimed in 14 and 15.

Unbeaten leaders Porters Patriots made it 20 wins on the bounce when they restricted The Office to just a single point with some good performances in the individual phases.

Robbie Bisgrove and Andy Bates both won 3-0, aided by legs in 15, while Antony Hayman emerged a 3-1 winner with games won in 15 and 17.

Dave Pethick (100x11) top scored for Octagon as they won 9-2 away at Cherry Tree while two maximum scores from Tony Turner was the highlight of Fawn A’s 8-3 success away at Victory B.

Fawn B edged out Victory A 6-5 in a high-scoring encounter that saw 103 throws of a ton or more recorded which included four maximums and 30 scores of 140.

Gary Phillips hit two 180s in a 3-1 singles victory that included a leg in 14 while for the hosts, Lee Hellings top scored with 15 throws of a ton or more which comprised an outshot of 151.

Falstaff achieved all but one of the 11 points when they hosted Compton Social Club while Kings Arms went one better and defeated Maritime Nutters 11-0, dropping just two legs in the singles.

The Indian Inn derby match was well contested, and the A team had to come from behind and win the last three singles in order to prevail 6-5.

Maritime Marauders consolidated second spot when they defeated The Melbourne 10-1, the visitor’s only point being won by 13-year-old Frankie Stout when he emerged a 3-2 winner against Rob Hoyle.

Brewery Tap won 8-3 away at Porters Pretenders and had Glynn Wells top scoring with 13 throws of a ton or more.

The best singles encounter of the fixture saw Kieran Burns (28.22) defeat Dan Brazier (18) 3-1 in 14, 19 and 20.
