It's Ave Maria! As O'Brien Steals The Show

Maria O'Brien shone with sixteen three figure scores but found herself on the wrong side of a 10-1 defeat as Victory D lost to the Victory A team in the Steve Chapman 501 League.

One of those efforts was a maximum, which was one of five that the two teams bagged on the night as Quinton Taylor, Paul Goundry, Kelvin Rowe and Scott Lawrey marked one each onto the scoreboard.

Lawrey also added nine more tons to take his evening's total to ten in a game that saw eight of the eleven ties come down to a single leg shootout.

Two many cooks certainly didn't spoil King Billy's evening as Andrew and Scott Cook put on a master class of top tungsten in their team's 8-3 success over Fawn A.

Scott Cook (28.84) set about Mark Sargeant with a remarkable four 180s in a contest that was saw Cook take winning legs of 13 and 15 darts for a 3-1 triumph.

Sargeant himself added a fifth 180 just in four legs between the pair to no avail as he fell on his sword like many of his teammates during a difficult night for his team.

One shining light for the Greenbank team was Sargeant's teammate Mark Hempsall who added eleven tons to the scoreboard and won his singles 3-2.

Andrew Cook (24.24) had earlier chalked up an 18 darter in his 3-0 win whilst Antony Hayman was also prominent with ten tons.

Hayman also threw the highest checkout of 90 whilst teammate Alec Turner bagged himself a maximum in his 3-0 singles win.

Leaders Fawn B were pegged back to a 7-4 win over Kings Arms who are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the league.

John Mann (34.95) produced a remarkable individual performance for the leaders as he demolished his singles game in just 43 darts with legs of 13, 14 and 16 darts giving the Devon man a 3-0 success.

Mann also top scored with thirteen ton plusses; three of which were 180s that brought the overall maximum total to five in the match.

Mann's teammate Jaden Whitting hit one with the other coming from the hand of Warren Gordon for the visitors from Oreston.

Fred Goldsmith was also prominent for the Greenbank side with ten tons and a 17 dart leg in his 3-1 defeat to Dave Johns whilst Andy Bates also added an 18 darter in his 3-0 success.

An 11-0 win from Victory C over their local rivals, the Victory Hammers, enabled them to take advantage of the Fawn B's minor slip to move to within four points of the leaders.

Paul Gavican chalked up twelve tons in the match whilst Tom James was also prominent with an 18 darter that was finished with a 111 three dart outshot in his 3-0 singles win.

Jason Pinkerton threw the C team's only maximum whilst Kieran Harris provided the Hammers their only respite with a 180 of his own.

St Levans returned from their trip to Cornwall with a 7-4 win over Torpoint's Bar Mez as Mike Pearce top scored with eleven tons.

Pearce (28.36) also won his singles with a pair of 18 darters and a leg in 17 and paired with his brother Tex Pearce (31.63) for two 601 doubles legs in 17 and 21 darts.

Shaun Dring showed his class with a 15 dart leg that was finished with a fine 126 checkout in his 3-0 singles success whilst Lee Rodmell was the Torpoint team's shining light with a maximum on his way to ten tons.

Both Jayden Dodd and Alfie Ford reached ten tons in Octagon's 10-1 away win over local rivals Duchy of Cornwall.

Dodd's 120 checkout was the highest of the match whilst Dave Pethick picked off the game's only maximum in a trebles win.
